“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

-2 Corinthians 9:7

Our gracious God teaches us why we bring our gifts to him. God does not want us to bring an offering because we feel like we “have to” or because we feel guilty or because the “church is always asking for money.” God wants us to give our gifts because we want to bring them. He wants us to bring them cheerfully.

Why would we be willing to part with what is ours and be cheerful about it? There’s only one reason. It’s because our Savior Jesus has given us far more – forgiveness, life, the promise of his constant care and protection, and even more. So it’s our delight to reflect our thankfulness to him in every aspect of our lives, including the use of our treasures to support the gospel ministry.
