During Holy Week, we celebrate the great acts of love Christ accomplished to save us! On Maundy Thursday, the night on which he was betrayed, Jesus gave his disciples a new command to love one another. He also instituted the Lord’s Supper in which he gives us his true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Good Friday was the day Jesus gave his life for us on the cross and died. Good Friday is therefore a somber day, and so on it, the Christian church has historically celebrated a service of darkness (“Tenebrae”). That day was surely good, however, for on that day Jesus made total and complete payment for the sin of the entire world. Yet even on the day of Jesus’ death, the Christian church is not without hope, for it waits with eager expectation for the good news of Easter Sunday: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Please join us for any and all of our Holy Week services and celebrations!
